Biography
David is a highly experienced legal professional with more than 27 years’ experience practicing law in Canberra.
After graduating with an Honours Degree in Law from the University of Sydney, David commenced his legal career in Sydney working for the international law firms of Freehills and Baker & McKenzie.
More recently, David spent 14 years as a Legal Director of BAL Lawyers and its predecessor firms, including Wiliams Love & Nicol. Before that, he was a partner and Canberra Office Charirman of Deacons, now known as Norton Rose Fulbright.
David has extensive experience in property and commercial transactions, including business transactions; mergers and acquisitions; property sales and purchases; and commercial leasing. He is an accredited specialist in property law with the Law Society of NSW.
In recent years, David has expanded his focus to include the law relating to Wills and Estates, including business succession. He regularly provides advice to clients in respect to trusts and superannuation law. In 2016, David obtained a Masters Degree in Wills & Estates from the College of Law in New South Wales.
The 2020 edition of the Doyles Guide included David in the ‘Best Lawyers’ section in respect to his trusts and commercial law work. In 2018 and 2019, he was recognised in respect to his estate planning and estate disputes’ work.
David is a member of Elder Law & Succession Committee of the ACT Law Society, having previously been a member of the Property Law Committee of the Law Society. David has also served as a Councillor on the ACT Division Council of the Property Council of Australia.
In respect to community work, David was a Director of a non-profit ACT organisation in the disability sector, Duo Services Australia Ltd, from August 2012 to 2017.
