Biography
Matt has well over a decade of experience in commercial litigation and insolvency matters, in addition to general commercial advisory matters.
Matt has been involved in a substantial number of cases in Supreme Courts, the Federal Court of Australia and various other Courts and Tribunals. This includes briefing senior and junior counsel, and being involved in an array of alternative dispute resolution processes.
Matters have included shareholder disputes, matters relating to breaches of fiduciary and directors’ duties, applications for urgent injunctive relief and freezing orders, building and construction disputes, property-related disputes, consumer law matters and debt recovery matters (amongst others).
Matt has obtained an advanced insolvency certification, and has acted for insolvency clients in relation to all types of litigation and general insolvency matters.
Whilst Matt firmly advocates for his clients’ interests in every matter, and has ample experience in contested hearings, he also understands that engaging in sensible dialogue can be key to resolving disputes in a timely and cost-effective manner. A proper understanding of the client’s objectives is the key.
